If you are a fellow creator chances are you have dealt with art theft, and it really sucks. And SL doesn't exactly have the most convenient ways of dealing with it either.
But whether you are a creator or not I ask that you continue reading and hear what I have to say.
Whether it's ripping from your favorite video game and selling it somewhere else or ripping it from another creator on SL, it's wrong and it's terrible. For some of us SL is not just a game or a place we go to relax and have fun. For some of us it's more than that. It's how we make a living. SL Creators work their butts off to bring people enjoyable items, making secondlife a better place everyday and to support themselves at home. Everyone has to have a job of some kind to take care of themselves and others if they need to. How much would it suck if someone were to walk into your job after you've worked hard all day, then take credit for what you did and walk out with your pay check? That's what art thieves do. It's just as real and horrible.
I know that any thief reading this probably doesn't care about the well being of others. But whether it be a thief, a customer, a creator, whoever; If I could make the slightest difference and help decrease art theft by even a little I would be very happy.
I just ask that before you rip... Think about what you're really doing to other people who actually worked really hard to get where they are. And If you are a customer, please don't buy ripped/stolen anything. You're just giving them a reason to keep doing it, you're supporting art theft by purchasing it. Stolen content is usually pretty obvious, just do a little research if you're unsure. That's all I ask.
